Foley’s NY Hosts Trio of Veteran Football Writers Dec. 19

Foley’s NY Pub & Restaurant (18 W. 33rd St.), has assembled three of the best known and most respected NFL writers for an evening of football discussion moderated by Judy Battista of NFL Network on Wednesday, Dec. 19, from 7-9 p.m.

  • Bob Glauber is the president of the Pro Football Writers of America and has been Newsday’s NFL columnist since 1992. Before that, he covered the Giants for Gannett and chronicled the team’s first two Super Bowl championships. He was selected as the NY State Sportswriter of the Year in 2011 and 2015 by the National Sports Media Association. His new book, Guts and Genius: The Story of Three Unlikely Coaches Who Came to Dominate the NFL in the ’80s, details the success of three football legends – Bill Walsh, Joe Gibbs, and Bill Parcells – who developed some of the most gifted players of all time while leading their teams to a combined eight Super Bowl victories.
  • Hank Gola is the author of City of Champions: an American Story of Leather Helmets, Iron Wills, and the High School Kids from Jersey Who Won It All. Gola, a veteran, award-winning football writer, unveils the grit (and wild strokes of luck) that led to Garfield, New Jersey’s shocking victory in the Orange Bowl that stunned the football world. The game played on Christmas night 1939, featured two vastly different high school teams from Garfield and Miami. The story of this national championship game also presents a portrait of America amid the looming clouds of WWII.
  • Gary Myers is the author of five books, including the NY Times bestseller, Brady vs. Manning. His latest book, How ‘Bout Them Cowboys? is a behind-the-scenes look at America’s Team, with exclusive interviews with Jerry Jones, his family and many stars who have played for the most popular and valuable team in the world. Myers is a former columnist for the Dallas Morning News and New York Daily News and currently is a contributor to The Athletic. He hosts a show on WFAN on Saturday afternoons.

Judy Battista joined NFL Media in 2013 after almost 15 years with the New York Times, where she covered the NFL nationally since 2004. She also was a reporter for Newsday and the Miami Herald. Currently, she writes for NFL.com and appears on NFL Network programming.

“We are honored to host Bob Glauber, Hank Gola and Gary Myers for a lively discussion hosted by NFL Network’s Judy Battista,” said Foley’s owner Shaun Clancy. “It’s not often to be able to bring together three of the top NFL writers in the country all in one room.”
