America’s Boating Channel Now Features Two Versions of MUTINY ON THE BOUNTY on Smart TV

America’s Boating Channel™, the U.S. Coast Guard funded boating safety and boater education video service produced by United States Power Squadrons® – America’s Boating Club® (USPS-ABC), now features two versions of MUTINY ON THE BOUNTY from its MOVIES FOR BOATERS category on America’s Boating Channel’s smart TV and online services.

By popular demand, MGM’s original 1935 version of MUTINY ON THE BOUNTY has been added to its 1962 version, which has been Featured Now since Sunday.

Also based on the popular namesake novel by Charles Nordhoff and James Norman Hall, the 1935 version, directed by Frank Lloyd, stars Charles Laughton as H.M.S. Bounty’s Captain Bligh and Clark Gable as 1st Lieutenant Fletcher Christian. Presenting a powerful take on the classic conflict between sadistic tyranny and a just cause in the storyline that tracks the Bounty’s voyage to the tropics, the film was a huge box-office success, winning Best Picture at the Academy Awards, and becoming the highest-grossing movie of 1935.

Both versions of MUTINY ON THE BOUNTY are Featured Now on America’s Boating Channel’s free smart TV app on Apple TV, Roku, and Fire TV, on AmericasBoatingChannel.com, and on its YouTube channel, as well as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and other social networks through December 30.

The announcement was made by America’s Boating Channel’s Vice President of Smart TV, Kathy Strachan.

“We’re thrilled to respond to our movie buff viewers who requested the chance to view and compare both MGM versions of MUTINY ON THE BOUNTY during our holiday week promotion. We also encourage taking the opportunity to sample additional classic motion pictures with a boating theme in our MOVIES FOR BOATERS category available anytime at bit.ly/MFBonTV,” said Kathy Strachan.
