Trailblazing media and commerce company TOGETHXR continues to elevate the stories of women athletes by today announcing the debut of boxing documentary “Destined to Be Queen.” The film will make its world premiere at DOC NYC – the largest documentary film festival in the United States – on Friday, Nov. 14 (2 p.m. ET) at IFC Center in New York.
In collaboration with producer and director Olivia Zimmerman, “Destined to be Queen” follows the journey of Brianna Alers, a Bronx-born Latina who was introduced to boxing at age 11 for self-defense. The young athlete finds passion for the sport, which helps her uncover the inner-strength and self confidence to overcome schoolyard bullying. Now, she is an anti-bullying advocate who is preparing to compete at Junior Olympics.
“TOGETHXR is thrilled to collaborate with talented producer and director Olivia Zimmerman on this film,” said Kati Fernandez, TOGETHXR Chief Content Officer. “The documentary ‘Destined to Be Queen’ embodies a core value to push sports further by shining a light on the global icons to the underrepresented through storytelling that is rooted in perspective, purpose, and impact.”
The in-person, debut screening at DOC NYC also will feature a special Q&A with Zimmerman.
“I am incredibly proud to join forces with TOGETHXR to bring this film to life,” said Zimmerman. “It’s a powerful story of perseverance, resilience, and the value of digging deep to achieve greatness, while also inspiring others to keep going.”
TOGETHXR independently brokered the deal for the documentary.
