The Electronic Gaming Federation (EGF), the national governing body for formalized collegiate D-I esports and high school level leagues, have finalized broadcast and event plans for the 2020-21 EGFH Championships which will be held online in collaboration with Walt Disney World Resorts through Sunday before returning to Orlando, Florida in 2022. The EGFH Championships will feature over 98 high school teams competing head to head and in a first-ever all-star competition across the ESPN network of platforms. The Championships will be held for Rocket League, Overwatch and Super Smash Brothers Ultimate, with schools qualifying in one or all games.
“We continue to be very bullish on organizing and delivering best in class quality matchups for high school and college student-athletes, and this year’s high school championship will do just that,” said Tyler Schrodt, EGF Founder. “Through our collaboration with ESPN and Disney we will not only bring together the best teams and individuals, but we will also be able to showcase them on a national broadcast stage, which helps elevate the best in gaming once again.”
The competitions will begin with the EGFH All-Star Games on June 12, featuring players nominated by each school that qualified for the national championships. That will be followed by the EGFH National Championships, beginning with the knockout stage on through Friday, leading to the semi-finals and finals on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.
