Social sports publisher WAVE today announced the addition of senior staff members to its team. WAVE, which claims 163M monthly engagements and 2.3b monthly views on its content, added former Bleacher Report exec Josh Abrams, Senior Vice President, and former HelloSociety SVP Rebecca Hawkins, Vice President.
Abrams has nearly 20 years experience in sales and digital, working for some of the top media companies over the years including Turner Broadcasting, Fatherly, and Bleacher Report. He founded the original Bleacher Report Sales Team in early 2010, opened the first New York Office later that year, and built the Go-to-Market Strategy that ultimately helped change the shape of the digital sports landscape forever. Abrams grew Bleacher Report’s annual revenue for eight consecutive years from $3 million in 2010 all the way to $100+ million in 2016. Before joining WAVE, Abrams led the sales and marketing teams at millennial-parenting media startup Fatherly as SVP of Sales, where he developed innovative marketing & content solutions for consumer brands trying to reach their audience.
A 14 year media industry expert, Hawkins has best-in-class experience creating large-scale digital marketing campaigns, as well as leading revenue efforts for products, networks and brands. Most recently, Hawkins was SVP Innovation & Brand Partnerships at full-service social content marketing firm HelloSociety, a New York Times company. There she played a significant role in new company revenue generation, growing the national sales team, developing positioning, product ideation and spearheading integration with The New York Times.
WAVE is billed as “sports media for the next generation of sports fans catering to their preferred form of consumption – social media.”
