Mance Media’s new 4K TV channel, 4KUNIVERSE, announced today that it has secured an exclusive partnership with AVP to film matches of the premier professional beach volleyball tour in the United States in 4K and LIVE stream globally.
The first LIVE 4K broadcast of the AVP on 4KUNIVERSE will be July 14-17 from Manhattan Beach, California.
In addition to live streaming video of the AVP action, the partnership includes in-game highlights as well as pre-game broadcasts of athlete interviews, giving fans an immersive experience before, during and after the beach volleyball matches. The planned 4K coverage will include state-of-the-art slow-mo cameras, a drone and High dynamic range (HDR).
4K is the new video format that is 4x the number of pixels than that of a traditional HD picture.
“With any new video format, LIVE sports is always the driver for consumer adoption, says Matthew Mancinelli, Founder & CEO of 4KUNIVERSE. “With the addition of the AVP, and an Olympic sport for that matter, 4KUNIVERSE becomes one of the first premium general entertainment 4K TV channels to exist. I’m excited to partner with the league and to bring this beloved sport to the masses in a whole new way.”
“This partnership with 4KUNIVERSE will allow fans to experience the excitement and athleticism of the AVP and our athletes like never before,” said fifth-year AVP Managing Partner Donald Sun. “The highlights and athlete interviews will add another dimension to bring our stars closer than ever. Beach volleyball is an incredibly beautiful sport, and I am looking forward to showcasing its vibrance and excitement in 4K resolution.”
The AVP is the exclusive domestic beach volleyball home of the nation’s top athletes, including three-time Olympic gold medalist Kerri Walsh-Jennings, Olympic gold medalists Todd Rogers and Phil Dalhausser; Olympic silver medalists April Ross and Jen Kessy; and two-time Olympians Jake Gibb and Sean Rosenthal. The tour also features many up-and-coming stars, including Casey Patterson, Theo Brunner, Summer Ross, Emily Day, Tri Bourne, Lane Carico, Trevor Crabb, Robbie Page, and Amanda Dowdy.
