In anticipation of the 2018 BNP Paribas Open – the largest WTA and ATP World Tour combined event in the world – the tennis tournament launched a new mobile app to enhance the experience for those fans in attendance at the event – held March 5-18 at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden – as well as those following along at home.

Built in collaboration with YinzCam, the mobile app and software developer based in Pittsburgh, the new BNP Paribas Open app offers detailed information for fans including ticket and hotel packages, directions to the Indian Wells Tennis Garden, real-time traffic updates via Waze, ride-share options via Uber or Lyft, parking locations and an interactive map of the entire facility.

Available for iOS and Android devices, the comprehensive mobile app also includes bios and statistics for the 200-plus men’s and women’s players from the ATP World Tour and WTA who will be participating, as well as live scoring and real-time results, and complete practice and match schedules. Fans can even personalize their mobile experience by utilizing the “My Schedule” feature to highlight which events they want to be sure to see.

The app also includes a chatbot, a customer-service utility that can provide quick links to and answer questions about the event and facility, provide scoring alerts, information about the 20+ dining options available at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden; and all of the latest news, photos and videos on the star-studded entries, highlighted by two-time BNP Paribas Open Champion Serena Williams (1999, 2001) and defending champion Roger Federer (2004-2006, 2012, 2017).

“We’re thrilled to present our fans with a new and improved mobile experience for the 2018 BNP Paribas Open that we believe will become an indispensable tournament companion,” said Philippe Dore, Media & Marketing Director, BNP Paribas Open. “Our partners at YinzCam truly brought our vision to life in a way that we feel will resonate with fans and allow them to engage with the tournament and venue better than ever before.”

The BNP Paribas Open mobile app is the first tennis app developed by YinzCam, which has launched more than 160 apps for sports teams, leagues, venues and events around the world since it was founded out of Carnegie Mellon University in 2009. With apps developed for teams in the NFL, NBA, NHL, MLS, AFL, NRL, WNBA, CFL and more, YinzCam has totaled more than 55 million app installs and sent 18 billion push notifications on behalf of its clients.

“We are excited to be adding the sport of tennis to our portfolio,” said Priya Narasimhan, CEO and Founder of YinzCam. “But we are particularly proud to be making our tennis debut for the BNP Paribas Open, which was voted as the top tournament by players each of the last four years. We hope that this new mobile app will make the experience of visiting ‘Tennis Paradise’ even more memorable.”
