College Football Superstars Take On Retired Legends In Cornhole ‘SuperHole’

The American Cornhole League (ACL) is pleased to announce the return of “SuperHole” – an annual cornhole event that takes place the Friday before the Big Game. This year’s event will take place Friday, February 5th at the AdventHealth Fieldhouse and Conference Center in Winter Haven, FL, following its inaugural debut in 2020, where Sam Darnold defeated Daniel Jones in a battle of the Big Apple QBs.

To introduce the competition, the ACL will pair 4 top ACL pros alongside 4 top football personalities led by former teammates DeVonta Smith (@smittyyy03) who will be paired with ACL Pro Matt Sorrells (@matthew_sorrells_) and Mac Jones @macjones_10) who will compete with ACL Pro Devon Harbaugh, as well as retired legends Doug Flutie (@dougflutie) partnering with ACL Pro Matt Guy (@guynationcornhole) and Rashad Jennings (@rashadjennings) teaming up with ACL Pro Cody Henderson (@chcornhole). The competition will air live starting at 9 pm EST on ESPN2, and will anchor the network’s coverage of the 2021 ACL Kickoff Battle from February 5-7, the first National of the 2021 Johnsonville Cornhole Championships.

The weekend will feature an array of competition, including Pro Singles, Pro Doubles, Pro Women’s Doubles, Pro Crew Cup Shootout, and  ACL Pro Blind draw. Players will be vying for over $40,000 in guaranteed payouts, in addition to  points in the standings as the 2021 season kicks off. Fans can tune in via a number of broadcasts from partner ESPN, with the full schedule and additional information available at https://iplayacl.com/nationals/18

“The initial SuperHole was  a major hit with our fans last year. We are excited to increase the number of football stars to four for SuperHole II and create the theme of new school vs old school,” said Stacey Moore, Commissioner and Founder of the American Cornhole League. “We hope that pairing 2 new age football stars of the future and 2 football legends of the past with 4 ACL Pros in a sudden death playoff will create an entertaining event for all fans.”

“I’m always up for a good competition and being able to play in a cornhole event with an ACL Pro is exciting,” said Mac Jones, who was a finalist for the most outstanding college player award which ultimately went to his teammate Smith. “I have to represent the QBs and follow up Sam Darnold’s win last year with a title of my own.”

“I’m looking forward to getting the competitive juices going on the boards,” said Doug Flutie, the former NFL, CFL, and USFL star. “I don’t know if I could take on the ACL Pro Matt Guy head-to-head – he is the cornhole GOAT – but I like my odds against the rest of the field with him as my partner.”

“Hey I might not be in the NFL anymore, but that doesn’t mean I’m not bringing my A-game to the table when it comes to the cornhole boards,” added Rashad Jennings, the former standout NFL RB. “I got some tips last year from my playing partner, ACL Pro Cody Henderson, and we’ve a thing or two to show these young guys.”

The American Cornhole League hosts competition and tournaments across the amateur, collegiate, and pro ranks with thousands of players taking part every year. For additional information on how to participate visit iplaycornhole.com.
