MLB Network to feature live & new original programming throughout All-Star Week

MLBNetworkLogo.svgUnparalleled behind-the-scenes access to MLB All-Stars, plus two live games featuring baseball’s best prospects and two new documentaries will be featured in MLB Network’s programming throughout Major League Baseball’s 2016 All-Star Week.

Originating from San Diego’s Petco Park, MLB Network’s Greg Amsinger, three-time All-Star Sean Casey, Mark DeRosa, Peter Gammons, Brian Kenny, two-time All-Star Al Leiter, Kevin Millar, eight-time All-Star Pedro Martinez, two-time All-Star Harold Reynolds, Chris Rose, Christopher Russo, Matt Vasgersian, Heidi Watney and Matt Yallof will provide more than 13 hours of live All-Star coverage, including on-field interviews with this year’s All-Stars. MLB Network’s All-Star programming highlights include:

  • High Heat presented by Liberty Mutual, Intentional Talk and MLB Tonight presented by T-Mobile will offer live on-field coverage leading up to the T-Mobile Home Run Derby and the 2016 All-Star Game presented by MasterCard, with analysts using wireless “hat cams” to capture live HD footage of players on the field during warmups and batting practice.
  • Viewers will have two chances to see future All-Stars in action with MLB Network’s exclusive telecasts of the SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game, live this Sunday, July 10 at 7:00 p.m. ET from Petco Park with Matt Vasgersian, Mark DeRosa, Heidi Watney and MLB.com’s Jonathan Mayo on the call, and the 29th annual Triple-A All-Star Game, live on Wednesday, July 13 at 7:00 p.m. ET from BB&T Ballpark in Charlotte, North Carolina with Paul Severino, Bill Ripken, Sam Ryan and MLB.com draft and prospect expert Jim Callis calling the game.
  • The original series MLB Network Presents returns for a mid-summer run of new episodes during All-Star Week. The Bird, a documentary about former Detroit Tigers phenom Mark “The Bird” Fidrych, will premiere this Sunday, July 10 at 10:00 p.m. ET. Narrated by actor, Detroit native and Tigers fan Tom Selleck, the program looks back at the one-of-a-kind player whose childlike exuberance endeared him to the city of Detroit, his hometown of Northborough, Massachusetts and beyond. Later in the week, New York City native and Mets fan Matthew Broderick narrates Against the Odds: The Mike Piazza Story, premiering on Wednesday, July 13 at 10:00 p.m. ET. Featuring exclusive footage of Piazza’s orientation visit to the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum in advance of his induction into the Hall of Fame on July 24th, Piazza reflects on his career journey from 62nd-round Draft pick to Hall of Fame electee throughout the program.
  • Music from San Diego-based rock band Blink-182‘s seventh studio album California, which is available now, including performance footage of the band’s latest tour, will be featured throughout MLB Network’s All-Star Week programming.

  • 1:00 p.m. ET – All-Star managers Terry Collins and Ned Yost will announce the starting pitchers for the 2016 All-Star Game presented by MasterCard at All-Star Media Day
  • 4:00 p.m. ET – High Heat with Christopher Russo presented by Liberty Mutual
  • 5:00 p.m. ET – Intentional Talk
