Fandom Sports Rewards World Cup-Inspired Tattoos, Body Art

Big events bring out superfans, and FIFA World Cup 2018 in Russia, which kicks off in a couple of weeks, is the biggest of all globally. Although the U.S. failed to qualify, fans here are still engaged, especially those who follow the international game year-round.

Fandom Sports, a new fan-focused content app, is riding that wave, today launching a new campaign called #WearYourColors designed to identify those with the most “artistically expressive” tattoos or body art.

They’ve enlisted the help of superfan “Mauricio,” whose love of the Brazilian soccer club Flamengo is permanent—so permament, in fact, that he has the team’s colors on his front and back in the form of a team jersey.

“Mauricio is one of the most passionate soccer fans we’ve ever seen,” Henri Holm, CEO of Fandom Sports, told SportsMedia Report, in a bit of understatement. “He endured years of visits to a tattoo artist to permanently emblazon the Flamengo jersey colors on the front and back of his torso. His devotion to his team and his incredibly body art inspired our #WearYourColors campaign. We’ve designated Mauricio as the team captain of the initiative in the hopes that he will inspire others to share their most passionate photos on the Fandom Sport app.”

In the campaign, Fandom Sports asks app users to submit photos of themselves with tattoos or body art representing their favorite soccer clubs or national teams to [email protected]. Android users can download the Fandom Sports app from Google Play, register, and email photos to [email protected].

All fans will then get to select from two opposing entries, moving on to the next round until reaching the “Starting 11,” who will each receive two tickets to a U.S. or Canadian sporting event of their choice ($150 per ticket maximum value).

“Fandom Sports has a multitude of soccer fans who passionately follow their teams and engage in ‘fan fights’ year-round,” added Holm. “The #WearYourColors campaign is looking to celebrate and reward soccer fans with the most expressive tattoos and body art this summer. We’re excited to have Mauricio visit Russia and experience his first international soccer tournament and cheer for Brazil as he epitomizes the devotion of a true superfan. We hope to find many others like him!”
