SiriusXM Fantasy Sports Radio Celebrates 10-Year Anniversary with 10-Part Awards Series

Fantasy-Sports-Diamond-AwardsThe SiriusXM Fantasy Sports Radio channel marks the 10th anniversary of its groundbreaking launch today. To celebrate the milestone, the channel will air the debut episode (9:00 am ET) of a special 10-part series that will showcase many of the best moments and performers of the last 10 years in fantasy sports, and also honor some of SiriusXM Fantasy Sports Radio’s most passionate listeners.

SiriusXM Fantasy Sports Radio made its national debut on July 1, 2010 as a new 24/7 channel dedicated entirely to fantasy sports, offering fans from coast to coast fantasy sports advice and news from an extraordinary collection of experts.  For 10 years listeners have been making the channel their go-to destination for news and advice on a full spectrum of fantasy sports, including football, baseball, basketball, NASCAR, hockey and golf.  The channel has also broadcast live over the years from many of the biggest events in sports, bringing their audience into Super Bowl and NFL Draft cities, the MLB All-Star Game, the American Century Celebrity Golf Championship and more.

SiriusXM Fantasy Sports Radio’s roster of hosts includes many of the leading experts in fantasy sports, including industry Hall of Famers “The Fantasy Football Guru” John Hansen, Brad Evans, Michael Fabiano, Jeff Erickson, Rick Wolf, Glenn Colton, Greg Ambrosius, Lenny Melnick, Bob Harris, Brandon Funston and Scott Engel.

Listeners also get shows hosted by executives like former MLB general managers Jim Bowden and Steve Phillips, who bring exceptional front office experience and perspective to the airwaves, as well as notable names from entertainment and music, like Lisa Ann and Stray Cats drummer Slim Jim Phantom.  Over the channel’s lifetime several other athletes and celebrities who are avid fantasy sports fans debuted and hosted their own shows on the channel.  These include Pro Football Hall of Famers LaDainian Tomlinson and Fran Tarkenton, former NFL All-Pros Maurice Jones-Drew, Torry Holt and Roddy White, former MLB All-Star Cliff Floyd, NHL great Jeremy Roenick, former NBA All-Star Dennis Scott, actors Robert Wuhl, Michael Rapaport and Jerry Ferrara, musician Zakk Wylde, professional wrestler Mike “The Miz” Mizanin and others.

“When we launched SiriusXM Fantasy Sports Radio 10 years ago we saw its potential, we recognized the passion of fantasy sports fans, and we knew that we could build a ‘destination’ 24/7 channel with true experts, live advice and entertaining personalities,” said Steve Cohen, SiriusXM’s SVP of Sports Programming and a member of the Fantasy Sports Hall of Fame.  “When you tune in or call in to SiriusXM Fantasy Sports Radio you are hearing from the very best fantasy sports experts in the business, who want to help you win your league, or your next matchup.  We’ve also always remained focused on making every show, and every day, entertaining, and that includes so many of the fun shows we’ve done over the years with all-star athletes and Hollywood celebrities.  I am very proud of our team and what we’ve built, and our 10-part Diamond Award series will be a special way for us to celebrate with our hosts and our devoted listeners, who we appreciate so much.”

Over the next five weeks, SiriusXM Fantasy Sports Radio will present its 10th Anniversary Diamond Awards over 10 special episodes.  A new broadcast will debut every Wednesday and Friday in July, each focused on honoring great – and some not-so-great – moments and performances.  In the first two episodes SiriusXM Fantasy Sports Radio will unveil its all-decade teams for football and baseball, naming the best fantasy performers at each position in those sports.  Subsequent shows will celebrate the best NFL offenses for fantasy football, “sleepers,” clutch performers, rookies, and single game performances, as well as the most memorable fantasy football “busts,” and the most unfortunate “bad beats” that proved unlucky for fantasy owners.

The channel will dedicate the tenth and final episode to revealing its “Subscriber Ring of Honor,” celebrating its loyal listeners from the last 10 years.  SiriusXM will select 10 winning listeners in 10 fun categories – including Best Fantasy Football League, Best Fantasy Team Name, Best Fantasy Football Commissioner, Most Knowledgeable Fantasy Sports Radio Listener, and others.  The winners will receive customized rings and be invited on to the show.  They will also participate in a special SiriusXM Fantasy Sports Radio fantasy football league this season.  Starting July 14, subscribers can enter to be considered for the SiriusXM Fantasy Sport Radio “Subscriber Ring of Honor.”  Contest rules apply.  Go to https://siriusxm.us/DiamondAwardsFSR on July 14 to enter.
