Strat-O-Sim: Bumgarner Would Have Completed No-Hitter

Credit: Arturo Pardavilla III

Strat-O-Matic simulated the final two innings of Sunday’s game against the Braves, in which Madison Bumgarner allowed no hits over seven innings.

MLB decreed that it would not be considered a “no-hitter” in its official records because the game was only seven innings, so Strat-O-Matic, the market leader in sports simulations, decided to play out the final two innings to see if he would have completed the full nine hitless.

And… he did. A highlight catch by Nick Heath, entering in the eighth in center field for defense, off an Ozzie Albies drive helped secure the no-no.

Bumgarner recorded the final six straight outs, a Johan Camargo pinch-hit lineout ending the game.
