During the weekend which marks the 20th anniversary of the September 11 attack on the United States, USA Wrestling will make a special invitation to one of its most important events to honor and recognize those who have served our great nation.

USA Wrestling will provide free tickets to the Senior World Team Trials, held at the Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln, Neb., Sept. 11-12, to military and first responders, as well as their immediate families.

With this special invitation, USA Wrestling would like to thank our First Responders and any United States Active-Duty Military, Reservist, National Guardsman, Veterans, Retirees, who are currently serving and have served and fought to protect our country. This includes all from the Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force and Coast Guard, plus police officers, firefighters, and EMTs.

This invitation covers both days of the competition, Saturday, September 11 and Sunday, September 12.

First Responders and all service members must provide proof of service to participate. All they must do is show one of the following at the Box Office at Pinnacle Bank Arena on those days:

  • A valid fire and police photo ID
  • Fire and police badges and identification cards are accepted only if accompanied by a photo ID
  • Department of Defense Identification Card (non-expired CAC Card)
  • DD-214
  • Veteran Health Identification Card (VHIC)
  • Veteran ID Card

“On this solemn weekend where U.S. citizens will reflect upon this terrible day in history, USA Wrestling would like to thank those who stepped up for our nation on September 11, as well as those who continue to make a lasting impact. You have made the ultimate commitment and have demonstrated courage through your service, dedication, and sacrifice. We welcome you and your family to join us at the World Team Trials, an exciting competition that displays Olympic-caliber wrestling at its best,” said Rich Bender, USA Wrestling Executive Director.

All spectators must wear a mask while at the Pinnacle Bank Arena, as required by the Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department indoor mask mandate.

The Senior World Team Trials will determine the U.S. team that will compete in the 2021 Senior World Championships set for Oslo, Norway, October 2-10. Featured in the event are many of our nation’s best athletes representing all three of the Olympic disciplines (men’s freestyle, women’s freestyle, Greco-Roman).

USA Wrestling will host this competition just a few weeks after its historic performance at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan, where Team USA won nine Olympic wrestling medals, including three Olympic champions.

Eight of those Tokyo Olympic medalists have accepted their berth on the 2021 U.S. Senior World Team, and there will be no competition at the World Team Trials in those weight classes. Competition will be held in the other 22 World Championships weight classes, six weight classes in men’s freestyle, six weight classes in women’s freestyle and 10 weight classes in Greco-Roman. Numerous World medalists and national champions are expected to compete in all three styles, seeking their spot on the U.S. Senior World Team.

USA Wrestling is partnering with the Lincoln Convention and Visitors Bureau and the MWC Wrestling Academy to host this event. The event will be broadcast live by FloWrestling.
