Dermasport, the only high-performance facial skincare line for swimmers, announces the launch of their four-step system designed to protect, support and aid the recovery of chlorine and sun damaged skin. Developed by board-certified dermatologist and avid swimmer Dr. Christopher Schmidt, Dermasport has teamed up with five-time gold medalist Nathan Adrian and two-time medalist Elizabeth Beisel to raise awareness and education for proper skin protection for swimmers of all levels.

Dermasport’s complete system includes four facial skincare essentials for swimmers: a cleanser, an eye cream, a moisturizer and a mineral sunscreen with SPF 50. Prior to launch, Dermasport conducted a rigorous four-year testing phase to place these products in the hands of recreational swimmers all the way to gold medalists. The compelling results attracted Adrian and Beisel to team up with the brand as official spokespersons to increase awareness for preventative skincare for aquatic athletes.

“As a competitive swimmer, I have always been challenged by the irritating effects of chlorine and sun on my face. I would often use a mineral sunscreen before I got in the water, and then use a petroleum jelly product on my face post-swim. As you can imagine, it didn’t feel great as the residue of the sunscreen and jelly lingered on my skin,” said Adrian. “When I started using Dermasport, the experience was completely different: the sunscreen felt soothing and hydrating, and using the cleanser and moisturizer post-swim made my skin feel as healthy, if not more, than it did before I got in the pool.”

Two-time medalist Beisel added, “In the past year and a half, two significant and transformative events occurred that had a profound impact on my life. I lost my dad to cancer and I reached the milestone of turning 30 years old. These events sparked a strong desire within me to prioritize the well-being of my skin. I have come to recognize the crucial importance of protecting my skin from the sun especially while swimming, and Dermasport has become my trusted brand of choice. Their SPF is lightweight, durable, and lasts an entire workout in the pool. Plus, Dermasport’s comprehensive range of products offer me peace of mind by helping reduce the risk of skin cancer while effectively decreasing the signs of aging. It’s truly a win-win.”

Dermasport’s unique Ageless Recovery Complex (ARC) is an innovative formula combining a proprietary blend of ingredients proven to help skin recover and prevent signs of aging experienced by swimmers and triathletes due to extensive exposure to chlorine, salt, sweat and sun. The blend of calming botanicals and powerful antioxidants combine to soothe and strengthen the skin’s natural defenses. Ingredients like hyaluronic acid, aloe vera, chamomile flower, green tea leaf, and Vitamins A, C and E work to reverse moisture loss and combat the signs of premature aging caused by environmental stressors.

“As a swimmer for the last 55 years, I know firsthand how frequent chlorine and sun exposure makes our skin dry, irritated and prone to premature aging,” said Schmidt, Dermasport’s Chief Medical Officer. “I have removed hundreds of skin cancers and precancerous lesions from swimmers who did not take the proper preventative measures to protect their skin, so I developed the Dermasport System to make high-performance skincare practical and accessible for my fellow swimmers. The four steps have everything a swimmer needs to protect and nourish their skin’s health while living a life in the sun and water.”
