SiriusXM announced today that decorated soccer stars and former U.S. Women’s National Team members Heather O’Reilly and Lori Lindsey are teaming up again off the pitch to host a new weekly show on SiriusXM’s 24/7 soccer channel.
Played In with Heather O’Reilly and Lori Lindsey will debut March 20 and air every Monday night at 7 pm ET on the SiriusXM FC channel. SiriusXM FC is available to subscribers nationwide in their cars (channel 157) and on the SXM App.
O’Reilly and Lindsey, teammates on the USWNT from 2005-2013, will cover the world of women’s soccer, including international play and the U.S. Team, the National Women’s Soccer League at home, American stars competing abroad, and more.
On their debut show, Heather and Lori will preview the 2023 NWSL season, which kicks off on March 25. SiriusXM subscribers can hear a NWSL Game of the Week live on the SiriusXM FC channel and the SXM App as the league’s 12 teams compete for a regular season NWSL Shield and a NWSL Championship title. A schedule of NWSL games on SiriusXM can be found at www.siriusxm.com/sports.
“I am thrilled to join the SiriusXM FC team and launch this show,” said O’Reilly. “First of all, I am excited to be working with Lori again. We were teammates on the US Women’s National Team for years and had approximately one million laughs together on trips and at the World Cup. I’m also thrilled to help bring women’s soccer to the masses with Played In. The women’s game is growing at an unprecedented rate globally, and it is important that listeners are kept in the conversation on SiriusXM, a platform with such a large reach.”
“Heather and Lori are two of the best to play the game and they bring a tremendously experienced and entertaining perspective on soccer to SiriusXM FC,” said Eric Spitz, VP of Sports Programing for SiriusXM. “We are very excited to have them joining our team.”
Heather O’Reilly competed for the U.S. Women’s National Team from 2002-16, suiting up 231 times and scoring 47 goals with 55 assists. She won three Olympic gold medals (2004, 2008, 2012) and the 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup title. O’Reilly played in the NWSL during the league’s first four years of existence, first with the Boston Breakers then with FC Kansas City, who she helped win the NWSL Championship in 2015. O’Reilly spent the 2017-18 seasons with Arsenal Women Football Club in London and helped that club reach the 2018 Women’s FA Cup Final in addition to winning the 2018 Continental Cup trophy. She returned to the NWSL in 2018 and led the North Carolina Courage to victory in the first edition of the Women’s International Champions Cup (2018), as well as a NWSL Shield and NWSL Championship that season. Prior to her pro career, O’Reilly starred at the University of North Carolina, where she won two national championships and had the honor of having her jersey retired.
Lori Lindsey’s professional playing career spanned 13 years. A 10-year member of the U.S. Women’s National Team, she represented the USWNT at the 2011 Women’s World Cup in Germany and helped the team earn the 2012 Olympic Gold Medal in London. Lori is one of only a few players to have played in all three U.S. professional women’s soccer leagues (WUSA, WPS and NWSL). She captained the Washington Spirit of the NWSL in 2013 and 2014, then finished out her career with Canberra United of the W-League, the top division women’s soccer league in Australia, winning that league’s championship in 2014. Lori was a two-time All-American at the University of Virginia and was twice named ACC Player of the Year, joining Mia Hamm as the only two players to accomplish the feat.
